Almost everything I see from AP is a Royal Oak or an Offshore, and within those two families the case size, the dial, and the exact generation matter more than most owners expect. A 39mm and a 41mm of the same reference family are not the same conversation.

What actually moves the number.
Case size and generation first
Tell me the case diameter and the reference and I can place the watch immediately. Royal Oak generations changed the dial pattern, the bracelet taper, and the clasp, and each one has its own following.
The bracelet is part of the value
An integrated bracelet in original, unstretched condition is a meaningful part of what the watch is worth. Stretch and heavy polishing on the outer links both show up in the number.
Factory stones only
Factory gem-set Royal Oaks are a real and healthy market. Aftermarket setting is not, and it is easy to tell apart. If you are unsure which yours is, that is one of the things I check on arrival.

My Royal Oak has been polished. How much does that hurt?
It depends entirely on who did it. The Royal Oak case is defined by the crisp transition between brushed and polished surfaces, and a careless polish rounds that off permanently. A light, correctly executed refinish is far less of an issue. Photographs at an angle usually tell me which one I am looking at.
Is the first number the number I actually get?
It is an estimate and I say so every time. I give you a range from the reference, the condition you describe, and what the market is doing that week. Once the watch is in my hands and authenticated, I confirm the final number. If it moves, I tell you exactly what moved it.
What if I do not like the final offer?
I ship it back to you, insured, at my cost. No obligation and no fee. That is the whole reason I would rather give you an honest range up front than a flattering one.
How do I get paid?
Wire transfer, sent the same day we agree on the final number. I confirm your banking details with you on a second channel before anything moves.
